This film takes place in Nassau Bahamas. Our local children's homes struggle yearly to stay open, relying mainly on corporate donations and volunteers. After having an impromptu conversation with a board member of one of our Children's homes and learning about the unseen challenges and constant costs associated with maintaining children's homes, Leonardo Newman, the film's director and producer felt inclined to bring the heart of this story to light through film. Our goal was to create a dramatic comedy film that highlights the everyday struggle of running a Children's home. We aim to display how brilliant children are in unfortunate situations that they had no control over.

While the children's home in our film is fictional, it was designed around real conversations with multiple children's home employees or board members. In this film we highlight these kids' determination to save their home by coming up with a plan to enter the national junkanoo parade and win the prize money.In The Bahamas, Junkanoo is a yearly cultural parade based around costume design, music and dancing. Competing groups consisting of more than 200 persons compete in different categories to see who will be the champion that year. The scale of these groups make our kids' goal of competing a seemingly fruitless endeavor.It is our hope that this film will raise community awareness of the need to remember, donate to and support the initiatives of Children's homes as government subsidies are not nearly enough to maintain these homes.

Children's homes are essential. This film features allusions to the story of Joseph but the underlying foundation is found in Luke 4. In Luke 4, Jesus says "The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to set the oppressed free, to proclaim the year of the Lord's favor." ..... "Today this scripture is fulfilled in your hearing." As a believer, I believe it is our job to make sure that these kids who have been oppressed all of their lives, always have a safe place to call home. God has called everyone to be their brother's keeper. Even calling true religion, taking care of orphans and widows. I don't desire to see these homes just get by, but that these kids can grow up in homes where there is truly no lack. This film calls the community to action, not just rich people, or corporations, but it showcases how the community involvement would be a much better resource to keep these homes funded. This message is the heart of This is My Home.

This film stars Jaquay 'Das Quay' Adderley, the largest influencer/comedian in The Bahamas. A number of other larger Bahamian personalities make cameos in the film such as Timico Sawyer, Charlie Bahama and also features Nicole Musgrove and Hartman Brown, who both had speaking roles in Tyler Perry's Madea's Destination Wedding on Netflix.The film is Produced by Why Christ Media Group, New Hill Productions and Das Quay Entertainment.Directed by Leonardo Newman, his 3rd feature length film.
