SYNOPSIS

Every night 17-year-old half-breed Native American, Sierra, dreams of a horse named Shakespeare and her Native American father whom she lost 5 years ago. While working at the O’Connor Stables, she comes across the horse of her dreams, Shakespeare. She and her friends must free this horse and lead law enforcement to the ruthless rustlers who are stealing horses from local ranches and smuggling them into Canada to be slaughtered for their horse meat.

Sierra and her friends learn of the problem and discover who the bad guys are, and with the aid of; the FBI, US Marshals, Local Sheriffs, US Attorney General’s Office, DOJ, & DEA along with Sierra’s grandfather, they attempt to rescue the horses.

The setting takes place around the grandparent’s Bed & Breakfast and surrounding horse ranches, in the breathtaking Rocky Mountains of Montana, at the time of the upcoming big rodeo: barrel racing, roping, and Native American drumming dance.

Stealing Broomtails will round up your heart while setting free your inner child’s sense of wonder.

REACH AND APPEAL

Last year, over 55,000 horses were stolen in the US for the purpose of illegal slaughter and human consumption. It has become an estimated annual 100-million-dollar black market industry fueled by greed and cruelty. Many well-known animal advocacy organizations are steadily increasing awareness and fueling outcry against the practice.  A film of this nature will be timely in terms of social consciousness, as well as shining additional light on a little-known but growing problem.

Stealing Broomtails is an inspirational Family Friendly Crime Thriller based on true events. It shows no harm or abuse being done to the horses, yet tackles such issues as animal cruelty, racism, bullying, loss, substance abuse, and Native American family dynamics. Its goal is to bring the illegal horse trade to light in a way that encourages outcry while proactively championing the human issues of those attempting to shut it down.
