Los Mitchell portrays a hardcore exterior but in reality, he is a kind-natured man, forced to adapt to his environment. Jaded by the seemingly fruitless pursuit of happiness, Los is unresolved in several aspects of his life, including an illegitimate son that he neglects. Although living in a Jacksonville hood is challenging, Los is insulated by a God-fearing mother and his loyal best friend, Andre. Heated conflict with a local gang results in Los having to defend himself and ultimately taking a life. While he is exonerated in court, the family of the deceased are bent on revenge. Los tries to run from his problems only to break down outside of the one town that will inspire him to confront them… all of them.

The movie City of Refuge is based on the Old Testament Biblical concept of the same name. This film is so important, because while many of us have never taken a life, we each have a past and choices we have made that we aren’t proud of. City of Refuge helps hopeful Christ-followers to see a picture of the love of God and know that it reaches them no matter where they are. Jesus said that it is not the whole who need a physician, but the sick. This is why we believe that stories like City of Refuge need to be told. We hope to reach current and future believers as well as those who feel like they aren’t seen.
First-time Director, Micheal Ude,  received the entire plot to City of Refuge in a dream. Since that day, God has been moving in incredible ways to realize the production of this film. We have kept track and recorded the many miracles that have happened to this present point, and we have intentions of creating a project that would share those stories with the world as well.
